Snowman Race

Saturday at the Snowman Half Marathon!!!!!!!

I have fully recovered.   My legs are just fine now.......and I walked 4 miles this morning in the sloppy slush outside.

Leading Ladies Rememberance

Last August I went on my first destination race - Leading Ladies Half Marathon in Spearfish, South Dakota.   I have been collecting fabric and "things" to make a little memory quilt of the trip.

We went from Michigan to Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and finally South Dakota.   State fabric shows those states - with Blue Earth and the Jolly Green Giant and Mt Rushmore pins.   We passed many fields of corn and sunflowers - and soy beans, which I could NOT find in fabric.

We stayed in Kamping Kabins at KOA, stopped at a Sinclair gas station ( a personal memory from when I was little and we did cross country car trips) , saw Buffalo, the Corn Palace (fabric pic of what I thought it would be - NOT!!), wild horses, lots of hills, trees and big sky.

My race bib is appropriately pinned in place.
This is a close up of the 2 pins.  Look hard!!!
My search for fabric had me phoning a quilt store in Rapid City, South Dakota for this panel for the back of the quilt.
Today I started piecing this quilt - a graduation present for someone...................

Starting over!!!!

Ode to Mickey D
My latest finished piece.   The center block was made with hand dyed fabric from Mickey Depre.   That block has been sitting around here and I decided to start adding to it.   Much of the applique is inspired by her Garden Whimsy book.   Hand pieced and mostly hand quilted.

Saturday, January 26 was the Winter Warrior Snowman 1/2 Marathon.   The hardest half I've done.   But I got this little guy for being first in my age group!!!    Happy me.....

OK ....backtrack to the weekend after Christmas.   Ashley and kids came for "our" Christmas.   We got in a couple hours of sledding at the local park.   Great fun!!!

One of my gifts was this cutting board.........hanging in my kitchen now!!!    Makes me happy!!!

We had a good short visit - made gingerbread boys and girls, peppermint bark, and enjoyed seeing each other.

Of course, the greats came for dinner.

I hoped to start this blog sooner, but blogger was not allowing pics from ones' own computer.....and now it is.   We'll see how long that lasts.......and I'll try to post occasionally.
